Steak Chili Recipe

Okay, today we’re going to roll out the recipe for our luxury chili. Don’t get me wrong, this doesn’t have anything crazy like caviar or gold floating on top of it, but we’re going to be using at least one ingredient that can make this chili a tad on the expensive side if you’re looking to feed a big, hungry group. This is our Steak Chili Recipe. This recipe will serve 4-6 people.





  • 2 lbs sirloin steak cut into bite size pieces (You wouldn’t necessarily need to use sirloin, but it has become my favorite cut to use)
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 cups onion, chopped
  • 1 bottle of your favorite dark beer (I have used Guinness and Sam Adams Octoberfest and they are both excellent)
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 2 – 15 oz cans stewed tomatoes
  • 2 – 15 oz cans of tomato sauce
  • 1 jar salsa
  • 2 Tbs chili powder
  • 1 tbs ground cumin
  • 1 tbs ground oregano
  • 2 Tbs brown sugar
  • 2 Tbs Red Savina Hot Sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/8 cup flour
  • 1/8 cup corn meal
  • 1/2 cup water



In your favorite chili pot, brown the steak in a little oil. After 4 – 5 minutes, add the garlic. Next add the onion and cook until it is translucent. Stir in the beer and add the rest of the ingredients, except for the flour, corn meal, and water. Bring this to a boil and then reduce the heat and simmer, covered, for at least 2 hours or until the steak is melt in your mouth tender. Combine the flour, corn meal, and water, stir until smooth. Bring the chili back to a boil and add the flour mixture. Cook and stir for a couple minutes, until the chili is thickened. Serve with sour cream, shredded cojack cheese, crackers, sliced green onions, and anything else your heart desires.
